Let's hear from a parent of one of our first-year students!

"The Nanotech Engineering program is a remarkable program, standing as the only dedicated program of its kind in Canada.

My son joined the undergraduate program just three short months ago. This past weekend, he and his teammates earned first place in the international quantum hardware competition, HardHaQ.

As a parent that recently supported my son in assessing engineering programs across Canada, I was compelled to reach out to faculty leadership to recognize the tremendous accelerated environment that University of Waterloo provides.

First, Waterloo provides access to advanced resources, like advanced software, well-equipped labs and clubs. My son now has an opportunity to double-down in his interest spaces with well-equipped facilities. Second, our son is on this journey with like-minded peers.  The fact that this program attracts top-tier student talent is a powerful unlock for developing the next generation of Canadian tech leaders and innovators.

Lastly, as my son and his teammates prepared for the HardHaQ competition, it was their first-year Nanotechnology Engineering professor who inspired them. When these students could have chosen any team name, they chose to name their group after this professor. That recognition is a real "feather in your cap!" Waterloo Engineering has a facility that inspires its student body. Go Warriors!"
