Here’s a toast for all you accomplished! In the best of times earning a University Degree is hard, add a global pandemic to the mix and the challenge is even greater! This graduating class spent close to half of their university experience online. Yet they persevered with determination and resilience to earn their degree.
We are proud to honour the achievements of our graduates who continue to strive for excellence! University of Waterloo’s Nanotechnology Engineering Program marked this milestone with the first in person Grad Toast since the pandemic began! It was a privilege to be part of this jubilant celebration!
The Grad Toast took place in the Quantum Nano Centre (QNC). The graduates were addressed by Mary Wells, Dean of Engineering for the University of Waterloo and Ting Tsui Chair of the Nanotechnology Engineering Program. The in person toast was a closely guarded secret as event organizers wanted to surprise and delight the graduates who had experienced so much of their university life virtually. As the graduating class left the hall they were surprised with showers of colorful confetti!
The joyous occasion was celebrated by presenting each graduate a special gift which included a wine glass, a sparkling beverage, and a sumptuous collection of chocolate from a local chocolatier. It was a treat to watch the graduate’s faces light up as confetti floated down and gifts were handed out to all!
Congratulations to our 2022 Graduating class! We are so proud of you all!
