Waterloo Engineering took several of the top honours at this year's Ontario Engineering Competition held February 6-8 at Ryerson University.
Two teams comprised of nanotechnology engineering students placed first and second in the innovation design category.
Capturing first place was the
Suncayr team (photo left) comprised of Derek Jouppi, Andrew Martinko, Rachel Paulter, Hayden Soboleski and Chad Sweeting. A cool solution to a burning problem, Suncayr is an easy-to-use marker that indicates when sunscreen needs to be reapplied. The fourth-year team’s innovative idea has won many honours, including the first James Dyson Award ever to be awarded to a Canadian team.
Second spot in the innovation design category was awarded
