A team of fourth-year nanotechnology engineering students took top prize in the VeloCity Venture Fund & Demo Day 2013 competition on Tuesday, March 16. This competition, that runs every term, gives away $25,000 to uWaterloo technology student startup companies from the VeloCity Venture Fund.

Team members Matin Esfahani, Hooman Safaee, Shafi Siddiqi and MikVlascov (above) showcased their product Lumotune™ prototype at the competition and received $25,000 from the VeloCity Venture Fund.  Lumotune™ is a flexible, transparent display technology that uses natural light to show the image in contrast to high-energy consuming back-lit technologies. The team is advised by Professor Abukhdeir from the Department of Chemical Engineering.

The team was also awarded top project award in the nanotechnology engineering program fourth year design symposium.
