Enpact Technologies won the Most Entrepreneurial Project award sponsored by Structur3d Printing at the 2017 NE Design Symposium.
Structur3d Printing, co-founded by NE alumni Andrew Finkle (BASc ’10), has sponsored the award for the past three years. Andrew says “We love learning about all of the amazing nano tech the program showcases every year!”
Enpact Technologies, including Sushant Bhasin, Keegan Jebb, Pritpal Kanhaiya and Tony Wu, created a battery-free smart insole that could revolutionize wearables as well as fitness and rehabilitation industries.
The insole harvests power from human motion using triboelectric nanogenerators. With this revolutionary new approach for powering wearables, they’ll never need to be charged again.
Furthermore, the insole’s pressure mapping device can be used to track fitness metrics, with high accuracy and convenience, and instantly send the performance data via Bluetooth to a smart device. Information on the wearer’s gait can be used to maximize sports performance, determine the effectiveness of rehabilitative therapy and suggest better alternatives.
