Bereavement notice: Remembering Daniel Molla
The Waterloo community mourns the loss of second-year student and football team member
The University of Waterloo community is mourning the loss of Daniel Molla, a second-year Biochemistry student in the Faculty of Science and a member of the Waterloo Warriors football team.
Daniel was a proud member of the Warriors football family, and a familiar presence on campus and in the local Kitchener-Waterloo community. As a student-athlete, he was respected by his teammates, coaches and classmates, and he made a positive impact on those around him through his kindness, friendship and commitment to others.
"The sudden and unfortunate passing of Daniel Molla is heartbreaking for our players, coaches and support staff," said Chris Bertoia, Head Coach of Waterloo Warriors Football. "Daniel was an outstanding young man in the classroom, on the field and especially as a teammate to his football brothers. He will be greatly missed, never forgotten, and we will take joy in remembering his unique smile, subtle humour and the positive impact he had on our football program."
On behalf of the University community, we extend our deepest condolences to Daniel's family, friends, teammates, classmates and all those who knew and cared for him.
The Molla family has shared information about ways the community can honour Daniel's memory, including a GoFundMe campaign and details about funeral and visitation services through the family's online obituary.
Students, employees and others affected by this loss are encouraged to seek support. Resources are available through Campus Wellness, Counselling Services, Employee and Family Assistance Programs, and community supports.
