Weather statement

The University is open today, Friday, April 5, 2019.

The University of Waterloo will monitor the weather and will post relevant updates to the homepage normally by 6 a.m., and update in the event that more information becomes available.

Students, faculty and staff are reminded that they are responsible for determining when weather conditions make travel unsafe. Students should consult their class schedule in LEARN. Staff and faculty who choose not to come to work when the campus is open are responsible for making alternate arrangements with their supervisor.

The University of Waterloo monitors the weather and will post relevant updates to this webpage, the homepage, at @uwaterloo on Twitter, WatSafe and other communications channels as needed. (Read our storm closing reminder and weather closing guidelines for more information.)

Environment Canada gives Canadians as much advance notice as possible about potentially hazardous weather. Updates on weather for our region from Environment Canada can be found in a dedicated Twitter feed.

The University of Waterloo cares about the safety of everyone on campus and makes decisions about the operation of the University with safety in mind.

The University recognizes that individual circumstances vary widely and, when the University remains open in severe weather, those who judge that it may be unsafe to come to campus should discuss alternate work and study arrangements with their instructor or supervisor
