In 1967, Canada celebrated its Centennial year, the University of Waterloo commemorated its 10th anniversary and Waterloo’s School of Architecture launched as part of the Faculty of Engineering.
To mark its 50th anniversary, Architecture hosted a special evening in June for students, faculty and alumni.
A patch that delivers allergy medication to children developed by Waterloo students is one of only two Canadian projects to be shortlisted for this year’s international James Dyson Awards competition. It’s the fourth year in a row a University of Waterloo project has reached the final round.

Winners are known as Schulich Leaders, and they receive between $80,000 and $100,000 towards their university education. Waterloo is one of five universities across Canada to award four scholarships instead of the usual two because the University has a high number of interested and qualifying students for these prestigious awards.
More than 5,700 students received degrees as part of the University of Waterloo's 114th convocation. There were 4,818 undergraduate degrees and 966 graduate degrees handed out at ceremonies taking place over five days.

The graduating Master of Global Governance student’s career has taken off since he landed an internship with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Jakarta, Indonesia.
When Jenna Yee dreamed of becoming a pilot, the Waterloo aviation student assumed she’d start small, spending time in the north to get her flying career off the ground.
But a new five-year agreement between the University of Waterloo and the Jazz Aviation Pathways Program (Jazz APP) means some aviation students will get a jump on a more direct career pathway with a major airline.
“This opportunity really opens a whole new pathway into the industry,” says Yee.
