Personal Profile
Michele joined the NSERC Chair in Water Treatment as a Research Associate and Senior Microbiologist in 2004. Her research investigates pathogen occurrence in watersheds, and removal and treatment of microorganisms by water disinfection strategies.
Michele completed her BSc. in Microbiology and Ph.D. in Environmental Biology at the University of Guelph. She then did postdoctoral studies in the United Kingdom at the University of Aberdeen and the University of Liverpool. Her work focussed on the development of methods to detect and monitor microbial communities in the environment. For the past 4 years she was employed as an Environmental Scientist at GAP EnviroMicrobial Services (a division of Conestoga-Rovers & Associates), where she worked in consulting, research and laboratory services primarily for the drinking water industry.
