OBEC was established in 2024 as the first fully integrated ecosystem for discovery and development of battery research, manufacturing and characterization.
The over 2500 sqft (280 m2) facility at the Waterloo University offers coin and pouch cell prototyping, and a full suite of characterization and cycling capabilities.
In the first part of 2026, OBEC is expected to add a 1200 sqft (135 m 2) state-of-the-art dry room facility.
