Through Her Eyes: Women Shaping the Future of Optometry is a speaking panel and networking event designed to highlight the journeys, identities, and leadership of women in eye care. Hosted in collaboration between Women Empowerment in Healthcare (WEH) and the University of Waterloo Optometry Student Society (UWOSS), the event brings together optometry students, pre-optometry students, clinicians, and advocates for an evening of conversation, reflection, and mentorship.

Guest speakers will explore the realities of becoming and practicing as a woman in optometry: navigating admissions, clinical training, confidence, identity, and advocacy within a rapidly evolving field.
Our guest speakers include:
  • Dr. Chelsea Bray, Assistant Clinical Professor, Cornea and Contact Lens Residency Supervisor
  • Candice Lee, OD2, UWOSS President Elect and UWAGD Co-President
  • Sophia Detillieux, OD2, UW Queer Eye Founder and President
  • Japleen Kalsi, OD2, BSc in Psychology with Distinction from MacEwan
Light refreshments will be served.
All are welcome!
