We are excited to announce two reports that P4A has produced for Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) that look at the role of flood maps in community engagement and raising risk awareness at the community level. Recommendations from these reports will be incorporated in NRCan’s Federal Floodplain Mapping Guidelines Series in 2018.

December 2017 Newsletter

Partners for Action (P4A) is pleased to share our research, communication, and partnership highlights from 2017.

Our work over the past year is bringing us that much closer to our goal of advancing flood resiliency across the country. See our 2017 Annual Report (PDF).

The Centre for Community Knowledge provides members of the Kitchener-Waterloo community with access to information and projects of numerous organizations across the region. Their platform allows users to easily learn and connect with local non-profit organizations.

FloodSmartCanada en français!

Partners for Action is pleased to announce the launch of the French FloodSmart Canada website. FloodSmart Canada is extending its reach to more Canadians with a French version of the site.

A recent survey of Canadian homeowners led by the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change (IC3) and Partners for Action (P4A) at the University of Waterloo demonstrates that, in general, Canadians are not aware of their flood risks and are unprepared for flooding events. The survey results shine light on this lack of risk awareness and stress the importance of developing better flood management policy in Canada.

Launch of FloodSmartCanada website!

Partners for Action is taking action to better educate and prepare Canadians for floods with the recent launch of our new website: FloodSmart Canada. FloodSmartCanada was launched in the fall of 2016 with its primary goal of helping Canadians prepare for floods and the associated risks.
