Postdoctoral affairs update: Information session for staff and faculty

In support of refined postdoctoral scholar guidelines, effective August 1, 2024, GSPA is hosting an information session for members of the university involved in recruiting, hiring, and supporting postdoctoral scholars. 

Speakers:

  • Sarah Howard, Manager, Postdoctoral Affairs and Programming Development, GSPA 
  • Fran Hannigan, Legal and Immigration Services 

Agenda: 

  • Updated Postdoctoral Scholar Guidelines: review of changes to the refined guidelines  
  • New postdoctoral scholars website: high-level overview of new website, designed for prospective and current postdocs 
  • New Postdoctoral Affairs Resources Confluence space: walk through of new virtual space, which includes additional resources and templates for University of Waterloo staff and faculty who support postdoctoral scholars at the University.   
  • Review of immigration requirements for international postdocs 
  • Common examples and scenarios for postdoc hires/appointments 
  • Q&A

  • This session will be held virtually, on Teams.
  • The session will be recorded, and the recording will be made available on the Confluence site.  
  • Staff and faculty are required to register for this event, using the registration form below, in order to receive the Teams link for the session.

Staff and faculty who register and provide their WatIAM at least one day in advance of the session (by end of day August 12) will be granted access to the GSPA Postdoctoral Affairs Resources confluence site prior to the session. Staff who register on August 13 will be added to the confluence site, but will not have access prior to the session.
