The undergraduate recruitment team is responsible for:
- attracting prospective students to Waterloo through a variety of outreach and engagement strategies;
- creating strong relationships with applicants, influencers, and partners; and
- collaborating with faculty partners and the Director, Marketing and Communications.
The undergraduate recruitment team plays a key role in achieving Waterloo’s institutional enrolment goals and completes extensive travel, combining local, national, and global outreach efforts with personalized support to effectively attract future Warriors.
Some of our outreach initiatives:
- High school visits: meeting high school students to provide information about Waterloo, its programs, and offerings (co-op, scholarships, etc.);
- University fairs: representing the institution at local, regional, national, and international events to meet prospective students and their families/caretakers;
- Community engagement: partnering with community organizations and education partners (e.g., school boards) or hosting workshops to reach potential students;
- Country-specific outreach: provide tailored efforts and activities to specific regions and countries to develop strong relationships with international partners;
- Webinars and virtual relationship-building: facilitate online sessions to meet students from across the globe, who might not be able to connect with us in-person;
- Counsellor connections: we build relationship with high school counsellors locally and internationally to support a prospective student’s journey to Waterloo;
- Outreach initiatives for underrepresented groups: connecting with community partners to ensure underrepresented students including those from marginalized communities see Waterloo as an option for post-secondary studies; and
- International agents: work closely with education agents internationally who assist students through the applicant journey abroad.
