The READI Project Math Outreach Team visited several secondary schools in Manado, North Sulawesi. The half-day workshops welcomed participants from: SMA Kristen Irene, SMAN 9 Manado, SMAN 1 Manado, SMAN 7 Manado, SMAN 4 Manado, and SMA Katolik Rex Mundi.

School Visit in Padang

On August 28, 2018, READI's Math Outreach Team visited SMA Don Bosco High School in Padang, West Sumatra.

The International Congress of Actuaries is a conference held every four years under the auspices of the International Actuarial Association (IAA) and the actuary association in the host country. The 31st International Actuary Conference (ICA) took place in Berlin, Germany, from June 4 – 8. With nearly 2,000 actuaries, academics, and representatives of international insurance companies, the financial industry, government and related institutions in attendance, the ICA is the leading international conference for actuarial science and mathematical finance.

The Risk Management, Economic Sustainability, and Actuarial Science Development in Indonesia (READI) project, in collaboration with the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) Financial Services Authority and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in Andalas University, held a seminar titled Actuary, Largest Career Opportunity in Mathematics in Padang City, West Sumatra on May 3rd, 2018. This event was attended by 90 high school students along with 60 mathematics teachers and school counselors, as well as 105 students and 47 lecturers from Padang State University, Andalas University, Bung Hatta University, and Taman Siswa University.

On, July 14-15, 2018, the READI Project hosted a Workshop on Applied Research and Theory Based Research.  This workshop held in Belitung is the second in a series of actuarial science based workshops and a continuation of the workshop that took place in Bandung during March 2018.

On February 8, 2018, the READI project and the Canadian Association of International Development Professionals (CAIDP),  a non-profit corporation that was federally registered in February 1993 under the name Canadian Association of International Development Consultants (CAIDC) hosted a webinar titled, MicroInsurance in International Development.

READI Newsletter - Volume 2


The READI (Risk Management, Economic Sustainability and Actuarial Science Development in Indonesia) project aims to increase the number and quality of Indonesian actuarial science graduates to address the country’s growing demand for actuaries. In collaboration with Government of Indonesia, insurance industry, key university partners and the Persatuan Aktuaris Indonesia (PAI), the READI project aims to develop Indonesia as a center of actuarial science excellence. Project efforts will supplement the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK)’s 1,000 Actuaries program by providing gender-equitable opportunities and support for innovative, high-quality actuarial science education, certification and professional development.
