Elaine is a PhD student in the Social and Ecological Sustainability program in Integrated Water Management (through the Collaborative Water Program). Her dissertation research is part of the Lake Futures research group, which is a part of University of Waterloo's Global Water Futures collaboration with other universities across Canada. For her research, Elaine will co-create with stakeholders a cumulative effects aquatic monitoring framework for the interface area between the lower Grand River and northeast Lake Erie. Past research projects include geoexchange commercialization, corporate sustainability programming, and watershed management.
Elaine has previously succeeded at engaging with multiple levels of stakeholders, and educating and building teams in regards to sustainability initiatives. She has collaborated with people and teams from diverse disciplines in a variety of industries, e.g., construction, engineering, education, tourism, natural resource management, and renewable energy. Included in her professional portfolio are a number of presentations, workshops and events designed and delivered by her in settings that range from local grassroots organizations to international conferences. She has been directly involved in the growth and development of several initiatives and economic ventures, including her own small businesses in North York, Ontario. She is a member of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps, having trained with Al Gore in 2015. Elaine's professional designations include Project Management Professional (PMP) and Environmental Professional In-Training (EPt).
