Wilson obtained his B.A.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL), Ecuador in 2013. He worked as a junior structural engineer for about four years, then pursued a master's program (MEEES) offered by Erasmus Mundus in 2018.

Wilson worked as a research fellow for the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia, Italy. At IUSS, Wilson explored seismic retrofitting techniques, seismic performance and loss assessment, and multi-criteria decision making. Wilson also developed a particular interest in the seismic performance of non-structural elements and seismic resilience of structures. Currently, Wilson is analyzing shape memory alloys for self-centering applications to improve the seismic resilience of structures.

In his spare time Wilson enjoys playing volleyball, traveling, and cooking, passions acquired while living in Italy.
