With over 20 years of international experience in technology and sustainability, Joe has been at the forefront of leveraging technology to foster sustainability solutions. His commitment to innovation and collaboration has been instrumental in making sustainable development a tangible priority across various sectors. As a member of the U.A.E. Global Council on SDGs, he played a pivotal role in championing sustainability solutions at COP28, working closely with the U.A.E. government, private sector, international organizations, and academia - particularly with the Abu Dhabi based Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, where he is a non-resident research fellow at the Centre for Climate Diplomacy.
Former Head of Energy & Water Knowledge Hub with the International Committee of the Red Cross, Joe’s strategic leadership was instrumental in engaging stakeholders across academia, the private sector, and government, to successfully establish a knowledge hub in the U.A.E., laying the groundwork for a comprehensive long-term strategy that aligns with the organizations’ sustainability goals and commitment to addressing climate change on a regional level.
Before that Joe, was the Head of Sustainability, Corporate Responsibility and Government & Industry Relations for Ericsson in region Middle East and East Africa. In that role, Joe led and managed different functions in 23 countries, and initiated several Technology for Good projects that leverage information and communications for socio-economic development and low-carbon economy.
Currently a PhD Candidate in sustainability management at the University of Waterloo – Canada with a focus on the role of the private sector in mitigating security threats related to climate change and natural disasters in developing countries. Joe holds a Master of Environment and Business from the University of Waterloo, a Bachelor in Applied Sciences from l’Université du Québec À Montréal - Canada, and is fluent in English, French, Arabic and Italian.
