Research interests
Recently, the aspiration of building smart cities, of which the goal is to improve the quality of life by establishing intelligent network via urban informatics and technology, has introduced increasing interest in the exploitation of three-dimensional (3D) city models. One of the most attractive topics in the fields of remote-sensing 3D city models is the establishment of 3D point clouds. Mobile light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology, which allows for an efficient collection of enormous volumes of accurate, irregularly distributed, highly dense geo-referenced data, has become prevalent in establishing high-quality 3D point clouds inventory especially road information inventory. Thus, my research focuses on processing and analyzing the obtained information from mobile LiDAR to build precise 3D city models and to improve the efficiency of services in smart cities. Furthermore, integrating with my abundant knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) and geodatabase techniques, the obtained high-quality 3D point clouds can be better managed, analyzed, interpreted, and visualized.
