SDS Chair and Professor Denise Marigold
The podcast The Science of Happiness recently featured Denise Marigold, a professor of Social Development Studies at Renison, to speak about the power of compliments. An area of study for Prof. Marigold, she discussed some of her research as it relates to happiness within relationships.

"Compliments can be really powerful if done in a way that's really genuine," said Marigold. "What really matters is choosing a quality that you know is important to your partner - to show that you notice it, you appreciate it, you value it. Humans have a key need for validation - that someone is noticing what they're doing, [...] gets it, and accepts it."
