"Compliments can be really powerful if done in a way that's really genuine," said Marigold. "What really matters is choosing a quality that you know is important to your partner - to show that you notice it, you appreciate it, you value it. Humans have a key need for validation - that someone is noticing what they're doing, [...] gets it, and accepts it."
