SDS faculty research awarded SSHRC funding

Congratulations!

As part of a nation-wide $285 million announcement, the following SDS faculty were awarded grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) towards exciting research initiatives: 

  • Denise Marigold: Responsive social support for vulnerable individuals (Insight Grant, $186,127)
  • Margaret Gibson: Neurodiversity matters: An ethnographic investigation of discourse, practice, and identity (Insight Development Grant, $66,659)
  • Christina Parker: Restorative justice and peacebuilding dialogue in schools (Insight Development Grant, $57,197)
  • Kristina Llewellyn: Thinking Historically for Canada's Future (Partnership Grant, $2.5 million)
    • Led by Dr. Carla Peck (University of Alberta), Kristina is one of 28 researchers across 17 universities contributing to a 7-year, $8.6 million project on how Canadian students learn about our country's history. Read more about this ambitious study in the Edmonton Journal

Our faculty are among 60 University of Waterloo SSHRC recipients, with funding helping to advance research in the areas of education, immigration, Indigenous health, and the environment.
