Spring 2019 Convocation Award Winners

Congratulations to the following SDS Students, who received prestigious awards during the Spring 2019 Convocation Ceremony. 


Zoe Dunbar - Board of Governors Medal for Academic Achievement

Zoe graduated with a 4-year SDS Honours degree, a minor in psychology, and two specializations. Having been on the Dean's Honour List for years, she'll be starting the Human Resources Management Graduate Certificate program at Fanshawe College this fall. Zoe will consecutively serve as an upper-year SDS Buddy in the program's inaugrual offering, helping new SDS students in their adjustment to university. She aims to incorporate her love of art and culture into employment counselling by establishing a workshop series.

Sarah Bryson - President’s Special Award for Academic Achievement

Sarah graduated with a 3-year SDS degree, a minor in psychology, and two specializations. Having been on the Dean's Honour List for years, she'll be starting Renison's Bachelor of Social Work program this fall and plans to continue her education to the graduate level. Sarah hopes to serve others in a hospital setting and continue working with individuals with disabilities.

Yara Janzen - Social Development Studies Book Prize for Academic Achievement

Yara graduated with a 4-year SDS Honours degree and social work specialization. Having been on the Dean's Honour List for years, she'll be starting Renison's Bachelor of Social Work program this fall. Yara has a long history of service through volunteering at Frankling Public School, Luther Village on the Park, and Nithview Community Home. 

Charmaine Pasadilla - President’s Merit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Life at Renison

Charmaine graduated with a 4-year SDS Honours degree, a minor in fine arts, and three specializations. She's been heavily involved at Renison, serving as a peer leader, tour guide, Year Book & Communications Officer, and more. Charmaine was able to take advantage of Renison's Study Abroad program, and spent time learning and exploring in Japan.

Aaron Rousseau - President’s Merit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Life at Renison

Aaron graduated with a 4-year SDS Honours degree, a psychology minor, and three specializations. Having been on the Dean's Honour List for years, he'll be starting Renison's Bachelor of Social Work program this fall. Aaron will consecutively serve as an upper-year SDS Buddy in the program's inaugrual offering, helping new SDS students in their adjustment to university. He contributed strongly to Renison's community as a residence Don, a member of the Renisix Student Council, an Orientation leader, and assisted SDS faculty in research.
