Research and Teaching Interests
Siobhán Saravanamuttu (she/her) is a PhD (ABD) Candidate completing dissertation research related to the politics of the institutionalization of disabled people in a Canadian context. Her work examines the politics of eugenics as it relates to disability, gender, the family, and work. Beyond her dissertation, Siobhán is involved in collaborative and community-engaged research relating to institutional violence and is a Research Assistant at Wilfrid Laurier University supporting the Staying Home 2.0 Project which investigates housing policy relating to rent banks and eviction prevention.
In addition to teaching in the Social Development Studies department at the University of Waterloo, Siobhán is Part-Time Lecturer in the School of Disability Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University and the Childhood and Youth Studies Department at Western University's King's University College.
