Donna Dosman, Chief of the Research Data Centre Program at Statistics Canada Head Office Microdata Access Division, will give an overview of the types of data files which may be accessed in a Research Data Centre (RDC). Cross-sectional and longitudinal surveys are available, sometimes in multiple or themed cycles and sometimes with one-time collection. Also adminstrative data files and linked survey-adminstrative data are included in the RDC holdings. The presentation will address the advantages of augmenting currently available Statistics Canada data such as the Survey of Income Dynamics (SLID), the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) and the long form Census by linking them with adminstrative data such as Cancer, Mortality and Tax adminstrative files. Various sources of available income, immigration, health, justice and workplace data will be reviewed. Some are currently available for RDC proposal submission while others will enter a pilot phase during 2017-2018.
