Putting the Puzzle Pieces Together: Understanding How Your Work Connects to the Campus Support and Accessibility Unit

Wednesday, April 9, 2025 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Session Description

Campus Support & Accessibility (AccessAbility Services, Campus Accessibility, Employee Health & Accommodation, Conflict Management, and Sexual Violence Prevention & Response) is a in-real time example of our University Values. CSA brings together campus experts working to embed anti-discrimination, harassment and violence, and pro-accessibility values and practices enshrined in legislation governing the University, to ensure we work with a unified purpose and coordination of supports and resources. Though, CSA encounters two key challenges: 1) an ever-changing campus means people will be unaware of these supports, and 2) we hear from employees that understanding the different, but complimentary legislative requirements, can feel overwhelming.

With that in mind, this session aims to reaffirm that staff are not alone in addressing the increasing rise in discrimination, harassment, violence and inaccessibility experienced by the most marginalized in our communities. In this session you will meet the Education Specialist working in CSA who will map our rights, roles, and responsibilities, and inform you of the resources the unit provides, ensuring you leave with referral contacts. There will be ample time for Q & A. And you will have an opportunity to inform their developing strategic education plan!

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Learn how to connect with the campus experts available to support you in addressing accessibility, accommodations, discrimination, harassment and sexual violence.
  2. Understand that all University employees have rights, responsibilities and roles to uphold, stemming from the legislative requirements governing the University.
