Will Percival and Glen McGee awarded NFRF funding

Dr. Will Percival from the Department of Physics and Astronomy and Dr. Glen McGee from the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science have formed a collaborative team to adapt cutting edge statistical tools to cosmological analyses.

Common observational analyses adopt off-the-shelf statistical methods that may rely on untenable assumptions and lead to biased results. McGee and Percival plan to assess the limitations of the analytical tools commonly used in cosmology, and then modernize these tools to help researchers better understand the Universe and Dark Energy.

The 2-year project received $250,000 in funding provided by the Government of Canada’s New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF). More information about their research is available on the NFRF website.
