Sampling in Survey Research
Once you have found your research topic and landed on research questions you aim to answer with survey data from human research participants, then it is time to decide who to observe and gather information from. Sampling, the process of selecting the people you are going to gather data from with your survey, is a crucial step in the data collection process. It is essential to consider the best way(s) to select your sample, given the resources (time, money, access, etc.) available to you, to achieve the best-quality sample, and thus the best quality data, possible. This workshop delves into the art of sampling in survey research, and reviews current best practices for a variety of sampling procedures available to researchers in Canada.
