Conducting Surveys with Qualtrics

Learn how to use Qualtrics to create and launch a survey. The goal of this workshop is to provide an overview of the whole process along with some hands-on exercises. The workshop will start with instruction on how to build a survey, then will cover getting it ready for the field, and finish with showing users how to distribute, monitor, and extract their data.

The workshop includes some hands-on practice. Participants will need to bring their own laptops for the survey programming exercise.

Please ensure to set up your Qualtrics account (free to you through the University's license) prior to the workshop. Instructions for setting up your account can be found in the UWaterloo knowledge base.

This workshop will cover:

  • Getting started with Qualtrics
  • Building a survey (including a survey programming exercise)
  • Preparing a survey for the field
  • Testing a survey
  • Launching and monitoring a survey
  • Closing a survey

The instructional portion of the workshop will run until approximately 12:30pm. The second half of the workshop will provide attendees with an opportunity to ask questions and for Qualtrics help (time permitting).

Registration

This in-person workshop will take place in M3 3127 and includes some practical exercises. R knowledge is an asset.

Registration is free and open to all University of Waterloo faculty, staff, and students (both graduate and undergraduate).
