Linear regression is commonly used in various literature. However, the linear models have limitations. The generalized linear models (GLM) expand upon the linear regression to handle data such as binary and count data.
In this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of GLMs and their application using the R software. Topics covered in this workshop include:
- Review of statistical terminologies.
- Introduction to the framework, assumptions and fundamentals of GLMs.
- Hands-on application of the logistic regression model.
- Hands-on application of the Poisson regression model.
This in-person workshop will be held at M3 3103. The workshop includes some hands-on practice. Participants are required to bring their laptops/devices with R and RStudio already downloaded and installed.
Registration is free to all students, faculty and staff at the University of Waterloo. Participants with no programming background are encouraged to go over the basics of R first.
