Unleash the Power in Your Data

Wednesday, January 22, 2025 9:30 am - 12:00 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

Data often come in the form of tables or databases, making it challenging to understand beyond their sizes and variable types. This workshop will introduce you to graphical and numerical techniques to uncover the structure of your data.

What You'll Learn:

  • Techniques for visualizing and summarizing data
  • Key statistics for describing data distributions
  • Systematic approaches to exploring relationships between variables
  • How to design statistical analyses for meaningful results
  • The importance of initial correlation explorations before linking predictors to response variables

Hands-On Experience: Participants are required to bring their laptops/devices with R and RStudio pre-installed for extensive hands-on practice. No programming background? We encourage you to review the basics of R beforehand to get the most out of this workshop.

This in-person workshop will be held at DC 1568 (inside the DC library). Registration is free for all students, faculty, and staff at the University of Waterloo.
