Unlock the Power of Linear Regression

Tuesday, March 10, 2026 9:30 am - 12:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Linear regression models, also known as linear models, are essential tools in various fields due to their simplicity and ease of interpretation. This workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to both simple and multiple linear regression.

What You'll Learn:

  • Fundamentals of regression models and their assumptions
  • How to interpret coefficients and conduct significance testing
  • Exploring interactions between variables and using dummy variables
  • Model-checking techniques, including residual plots and collinearity diagnostics
  • Methods for model selection

Hands-On Experience: We'll demonstrate the analysis using R. Participants with basic programming knowledge are encouraged to bring a laptop for hands-on practice. No prior experience? No problem! You'll still gain a solid understanding of the concepts.

This in-person workshop will be held at DC 1568 (inside the DC library). Registration is free and open for all students, faculty, and staff at the University of Waterloo.
