Welcome to the Structural Biomechanics research program at the University of Waterloo, a center for cutting-edge research at the intersection of engineering and biology! Our research program is dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of how biological structures, from bones to tissues to the function of whole systems, respond to mechanical behaviors within a living body. Through a multidisciplinary approach, we integrate principles of structural engineering with the intricacies of biomechanics to gain insights into the mechanical behavior of biological systems. Our research spans a wide spectrum, encompassing the analysis of skeletal structures under various loading conditions, the development of advanced computational models, and the exploration of innovative materials for medical applications.
