Student insights help shape how we enhance the programs, services, resources and communications that contribute to the University of Waterloo student experience. As we strive to provide an equitable and engaging UWaterloo life experience for our students, we regularly ask them about the factors that impact them – and how we can continually improve.
In March 2023, the University of Waterloo’s UWaterloo Life team conducted the Student Communications Survey (SCS) for its fourth iteration. Our goal is to understand the communications preferences of University of Waterloo students, so we can provide them with the information they need through the channels they prefer.
In this report, you'll see how our students’ communication preferences have changed over the last few iterations, particularly as we look at 2019, 2021 and 2023. We have captured insights spanning three significant periods of time – pre-pandemic, pandemic and post-pandemic. You’ll learn about the communication preferences that changed during COVID-19 and then changed back to pre-pandemic preferences as our students returned to campus. You’ll also learn about the communications preferences that changed and remained that way.
