About the Faculty, Staff and Retiree Giving Program

Waterloo faculty, staff and retirees (FSR) form a community that truly reflects the heart of Waterloo. Working together to deliver teaching and academic excellence, experiential learning, world-changing research and an incredible student experience, we are united by shared values that inspire pride and connection. Investing in each other and in Waterloo students means our hearts are in this together.

UWaterloo students say thank you

"I completed my most recent work term at STEPS Public Art, a not-for-profit based in Toronto. Through my work, I was exposed to how communities, cities and arts organizations work together to create accessible and inclusive spaces in both urban and rural areas through public art and cultural planning. I learned so much...surrounded by art and artists that inspired my work each day. I am very grateful that these opportunities are being given to Arts students so that they can gain job experience while being in a sector they love and giving back to communities. I was not only able to improve my skills but also gain new perspectives and a love for using creativity to impact communities."

- Raquel P., Arts Co-op for Social Good program participant

"These funds are of immense significance to me. They not only reduce the financial strain on my family but also affirm my hard work and dedication. Winning a scholarship is more than just financial support; it is recognition of my efforts and achievements. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the donors who make these scholarships possible."

Helping students struggling with food insecurity

These days, many post-secondary students are increasingly facing food insecurity due to rising costs of tuition, housing, food, and other expenses. To combat this issue, Waterloo's WUSA Food Support Service provides essential groceries to those in need with the support of donations from the Waterloo Fund.

While campus food programs offer relief, demand continues to grow, highlighting the need for long-term solutions to ensure all students have access to nutritious and affordable food.

Recognizing Excellence and Addressing Need

Professor Maurice Dusseault was once a university dropout who got his hands dirty on a northern Albertan rig, drilling thousands of feet into the earth in search of oil. Today, Maurice is a professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Waterloo. But he hasn’t forgotten his hardscrabble beginnings. That’s why he has established or contributed to several awards for students in need.

"We all benefited from an excellent system at Waterloo, and that privilege should be carefully nurtured."
