Surface Science and Bio-nanomaterials Laboratory Group

Zhao’s group focuses on the studies of surface science and bionanomaterials towards the development of high-performance advanced materials and innovative functional devices, including smart polymers, biopolymers, sustainable polymers, antimicrobial coatings and composites, hydrogels, bionanomaterials, soft materials and interface, biomimetic adhesion, soft robotic devices, 3D printing, etc.

It is well known for its interdisciplinary research capacity to take on both fundamental and applied research projects, providing an outstanding training environment for future scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.

Professor Boxin Zhao has been elected as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) in recognition of his outstanding achievements and lifelong contributions to the field. This peer-nominated honor highlights his work in creating functional materials to solve industrial and environmental challenges. Congratulations!
