Microplastics generated from industrial manufacturing of synthetic textiles, laundry or other sources have become an increasingly critical environmental pollution challenge. We are seeking researchers to join our multidisciplinary team to develop ways to resolve the problem of microplastic pollution by enabling a sustainable circular plastic economy. This fully funded position is part of a collaborative multi-group project at the University of Waterloo exploring human-impacted environments to develop innovative microplastic bio-recycling technologies.

Congratulations to Professor Boxin Zhao on being awarded the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF)! He is leading a collaborative research initiative entitled ‘Synergistic photocatalytic and biocatalytic degradation for controlling microplastic pollution’ with Professors Trevor Charles, Steven Young, William Anderson, and Komal Habib to help resolve the problem of microplastic pollution, one critical global environmental challenge.
