• In early October Dr. Sarah Burch went to Lund, Sweden to participate in the 2017 Lund Conference on Earth System Governance. The conference was part of a global series organized by the Earth Systems Governance Project. ¬†Dr. Burch participated in ¬†interactive panel discussions and presented several papers created by the GATE team The sessions were as follows:
    • Innovative Sessions - Urban Experimentation for Earth System Governance? (6.2): With seven representatives from different projects examining a variety of forms of urban experimentation, the first-panel discussion focused on urban experimentation and its potential, limits, and consequences to earth system governance.

    • Semi-Plenary - Are we stuck? Exploring New Directions for Decarbonisation Research: This semi-plenary explored the reasons for why we are in a high carbon world, the difficulty of removing ourselves from it (getting unstuck) and the research that is being done within the sustainability community to transition the world away from carbon.

    • Environmental justice in earth system governance (1.92) - Agency in Earth System Governance.
