New round of project teams join the Teaching Innovation Incubator!

In January 2025, an adjudication committee of academic leaders and experts selected three standout projects for the Incubator’s Winter 2025 cohort:

  1. AI Meets EDI: Virtual Simulations for Culturally Safe Indigenous Healthcare: Led by Jeff Nagge from the School of Pharmacy, this project aims to develop virtual training modules for pharmacy students, promoting culturally competent care for Indigenous patients. It aligns with The Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #23 and supports the University’s efforts to Indigenize its curriculum.

  2. Learning by Teaching a Large Language Model (LLM): Professors Pascal Poupart and Igor Grossman will create and evaluate an LLM to be “taught” by human students, enhancing their comprehension and fostering a personalized learning experience.

  3. Evolving Work-Integrated Learning with AI Insights: Judene Pretti and Tonya Eliott will utilize AI platform 1Mentor to offer personalized career guidance and enhance work-integrated learning opportunities.

Each project will receive up to $20,000 in funding and access to TII support, including project management by TII co-op students, networking opportunities, and advisory input.

Stay tuned for updates on these innovative initiatives!
