He Did Not Conquer, book cover, with Benjamin Franklin

Before Donald Trump in 2025, before James Madison in 1812, Benjamin Franklin had designs on Canada. This is the story of how he came to have that desire, how he rationalized it, what he did, and why he failed. It’s a historical saga that begins in Philadelphia, goes through London, Paris, and Montreal, and ends in disappointment.
