Katherine's project currently focuses on Scottish women's presence and their involvement in the Scottish Wars of Independence from 1296-1328. She will research the experience of Noble women and their familial connections, charters containing land and title exchanges, disinheritance, and whether they were able to be combative or political entities.  She will also work to find a lower-class female experience during times of extreme violence from military and political conflicts in the Lowlands of Scotland and along the Anglo-Scottish border, by using legal records from Scotland and England.
