Melissa's research will look at wedding photography from local KW photographers in the UW archives circa the 1950s. She will use these sources to understand patriarchal norms in this part of Canadian gender history, specifically through the compositional effects of wedding photos on those who view them. Her unique experience as a wedding photographer in the Waterloo Region will help her contribute to the Canadian historiography. She thanks her supervisor for aiding her in the creation of this major research project.
