Building on the success of our previous GenAI session, this updated workshop takes your prompt engineering skills to the next level. We’ll explore advanced prompting techniques including XML tagging structures, agentic AI capabilities, and hands-on demonstrations using tools like NotebookLM to generate infographics, videos, and podcasts. You’ll also learn how to leverage GenAI to create professional slide decks, transforming the way you prepare and deliver presentations.
This workshop continues to build on the Task Amplification Categories (TACs) framework. This is a structured method to align GenAI’s capabilities with workplace challenges. This year’s session introduces expanded applications including slide deck automation, transcript-to-document workflows, and exploring the use of agentic to complete documentation.
The workshop will also cover critical trends and issues in AI usage from an internal auditor’s perspective, including an examination of the AI bubble debate and the role of SOC 2 audit reports when looking at what AI service to use.
Advance Preparation
Workshop materials and a brief questionnaire will be provided a week in advance of the session.
You will need to subscribe to ChatGPT (chatgpt.com) or Claude (claude.ai) to fully participate in the hands-on aspects of the workshop – a free option is available for subscription. We will also be demonstrating Google’s NotebookLM (notebooklm.google.com) for generating infographics and multimedia content. Free versions of this tool should be suitable for participation.
This session meets the requirement for an IIA-certified individual to complete a minimum of 2.0 CPE credit hours. The requirement applies to all IIA certifications and qualifications, including CIA, CRMA, CCSA, CGAP, CFSA, CPEA, CPSA, and QIAL.
Format/Structure of the Workshop
A combination of presentations by the instructor, hands-on exercises and open discussion will be used. Participants can download some data and software if you wish to participate in the hands-on exercises. Or you can simply watch the demos and use the handouts that we will provide to perform the exercises on your own. Before the workshop, attendees will complete a brief questionnaire to identify workplace challenges where Generative AI could add value.
What’s it all about?
This workshop will cover approaches for addressing a variety of issues of interest to workshop participants. Discover the Task Amplification Categories (TACs) framework—a structured method to align GenAI’s capabilities with workplace challenges such as drafting internal reports, enhancing team communication, and streamlining documentation processes. Learn to navigate the "blank canvas" of AI with focused applications that boost productivity and improve work quality. This session provides actionable strategies and real-world examples to harness GenAI effectively, enhancing workplace efficiency and effectiveness.
Who should attend?
This workshop is primarily aimed at internal audit practitioners who are interested in applying GenAI in areas of interest such as those listed below under Learning Objectives.
What past participants have said
The workshop kept me up-to-date with the recent AI world and encouraged my use of different AI products in the coming months. I can recommend your workshop to my colleagues.
The workshop exceeded my expectations. I left feeling more empowered to structure assignments for students in the fall semester after more practice.
An excellent workshop. Having worked with ChatGPT on a few programming tasks, I think every student should know something about prompt engineering.
Monday’s course was great - good balance of intro concepts and exercises to get a taste of what GPTs can do. Certainly met my expectations.
