Dr.
Karanja
is
Director
of
the
Community
Health
Support
Programme
COHESU
in
Kenya.
She
has
been
a
health
researcher
for
many
years,
with
a
focus
to
expand
understanding
of
the
epidemiology
and
control
of
diseases
that
impact
community
health
and
wellbeing.
Before
joining
COHESU
in
2020,
Dr.
Karanja
was
the
Chief
Research
Officer
at
the
Kenya
Medical
Research
Institute
(KEMRI)
for
almost
2
decades,
coordinating
and
implementing
numerous
laboratory
and
community-based
studies
in
collaboration
with
local
and
international
universities
and
organizations,
such
as
the
WHO,
UNU-INWEH,
University
of
Waterloo,
the
US
Centers
for
Disease
Control
and
Prevention,
and
the
Bill
and
Melinda
Gates
Foundation.
