As part of the Water Institute's WaterLeadership training series, Nancy Goucher, Knowledge Mobilization Specialist at the Water Institute, presents, "Intellectual Property 101 and Commercialization."

Description: Commercializing your innovations in water research can be one way to support transformative improvements to ecosystem health, quality of life and job creation. But navigating the intellectual property (IP) protection and commercialization processes can be intimidating to researchers who don’t have experience in this area.

This session, presented by Eric Luvisotto, Technology Transfer Manager in the UW Office of Research, will cover the basics of Intellectual Property (IP) protection with a focus on patents. You will learn how IP can be used to commercialization technology through licensing or start-up creation.
