The 50th Annual Canadian Ecotoxicity Workshop (CEW), themed "Reflecting on the Past, Charting the Future," will take place in downtown Kitchener, Ontario, from October 6-9, 2024. Originally known as the Aquatic Toxicity Workshop (ATW), CEW has grown into Canada’s leading annual gathering for experts in ecological toxicology and related fields.

Water Institute member and CEW 2024 Co-Chair, Dr. Paul Craig, Professor in the Department of Biology, along with PhD student Karyn Robichaud on the sponsorship committee, have been instrumental in organizing this landmark event.

To celebrate CEW's 50th anniversary, special plenary sessions, awards, and student competitions are planned, including an outstanding contribution award to Dr. Mark Servos from the Department of Biology and Canadian Research Chair in water Quality Protection.

This conference serves as a vital platform for academics, government scientists, consultants, and industry leaders to exchange knowledge on pressing and emerging issues related to contaminants in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.

CEW is one of Canada’s best annual meetings for ecotoxicology, and provides an exceptional platform for students and early career researchers to present and share their current research to academics, government scientists, environmental consultants and industry. Also, it is one of the best conferences for mentoring and networking experience for grad students.
