Sondra Eger, MES candidate in Geography and Environmental Management (Water) and the current Chair of SWIGS, attended the World Parks Congress as a World Commission of Protected Areas Young Professional. The once-per-decade Congress was held in Sydney, Australia this past November.
In addition to attending the Congress, Sondra was one of just 30 young professionals selected to attend the Pre-Congress Capacity Development Workshop for Young Leaders / Professionals. This workshop was a four-day retreat which provided a collective space for young leaders to exchange skills and knowledge. The result of the workshop was the development of a draft Young People’s Pact and Action Plan for People, Parks and Planet.
