Thirst for water knowledge brings American PhD candidate from ‘across the pond’ to Waterloo’s renowned Water Institute
What started as a personal curiosity during a California drought has become a global, interdisciplinary research journey for Isabel Jorgensen, PhD candidate, School of Environment, Resources, and Sustainability - Collaborative Water Program, Water Institute.
From studying the shrinking Salton Sea to researching water policy at Oxford and consulting for the World Bank, Isabel has explored water from every angle.
I went from water being the entry point to the centre point. Now I was studying everything around water.
Now at Waterloo, Isabel is thriving in an environment that supports both depth and breadth of research—earning teaching credentials, co-instructing graduate courses, and collaborating across disciplines.
