Two Water Institute members have been elected to the Royal Society of Canada College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.
Members have reached a high level of achievement at an early stage of their careers. They represent the emerging generation of scholars and leaders in science and the arts in the country. Membership is for seven years.
Zhongwei Chen is internationally recognized for his ground-breaking contributions to the development of advanced materials for electrochemical energy storage and conversion technologies. Already a highly prolific researcher, inventor and scholar, he is poised to stand among the world’s leaders in advancing battery, fuel cell and supercapacitor technologies. He is a Canada Research Chair in Advanced Materials for Clean Energy and a 2016 recipient of the E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowship.
John
Yeow
is
widely
recognized
for
his
pioneering
contributions
to
microelectromechanical
systems
(MEMS)
and
nanotechnology
based
biomedical
imaging
systems
for
diagnostic
and
therapeutic
applications.
His
work
has
had
a
broad
and
seminal
impact—from
the
advancement
of
knowledge
to
industrial
innovation.
A
prolific
researcher,
the
originality
and
quality
of
his
work
has
been
recognized
by
numerous
awards
and
honours.
He
has
also
trained
a
large
cadre
of
exceptional
nanotechnology
engineers.
