Water Institute Members Receive Ontario Research Funding

Three rising Water Institute members are receiving the Ontario government's Early Researcher Awards (ERA) this year. Daiene Vernile, Member of Provincial Parliament for Kitchener Centre, and Kathryn McGarry, Member of Provincial Parliament for Cambridge, announced the ERA awards and infrastructure awards. Congratulations to the following Water Institute members who are receiving Early Researcher Awards.

Robert Gracie, Civil and Environmental Engineering, for the project titled: Hydraulic Fracturing: Modelling and uncertainty assessment in an Ontario Context;
Peter Johnson, Geography and Environmental Management, for the project titled:Measuring the value and impact of open data;
Lingling Wu, Earth and Environmental Sciences, for the project titled:Mobilization of legacy metal contaminants during iron mineral transformations in soils and sediments.

Also announced were Ontario Research Infrastructure grants. They were awarded to Water Institute members:
Zhongwei Chen, Chemical Engineering, for an Advanced Chemical Vapour Deposition System for Nanostructured Clean Energy Materials Development
Maria Strack, Geography and Environmental Management, for a Gas Chromatograph and Ultraportable Sensor for Determination of Peatland Greenhouse Gas Exchange.
