DATA.BASE project.
The Water Institute is pleased to be one of the partners in the recently funded Communitech DATA.BASE project. The project will explore technology-driven ways to collect and securely transfer “big” data from remote areas, analyze the data more intelligently, and commercialize data applications across a range of market sectors.
The three projects funded by the grant received by the Water Institute investigate a range of potential water-related applications, including the use of innovative sensor networks, microsatellites and advanced mathematical techniques to gather, transfer and analyze data related to sea ice thickness, plastics found in the oceans or large lakes, watershed management, and mine tailings ponds.
